Sean Willenborg purchased his house in May 2019 with his family Julie, Caleb and Callie. The house had good bones but he knew it wasn’t quite his “home” just yet. The first day Sean & Julie got the keys to the house they decided to go ahead and start the remodel to make it “their home”!
The house originally had 3 different types of flooring on the main level when they first moved in. So Sean went to work and started to install new hardwood throughout the whole first level to give it a cohesive look.
In the kitchen and living area there were vaulted ceilings when they first moved in. Julie needed an office space and Joe had the great idea to put a loft above the kitchen. This would not only add an extra needed space in the house, but also help improve the energy costs so the heat wouldn’t rise in the wasted space. Once this was complete it was finally time to redo the kitchen.
When Sean and Julie moved into their home they knew the kitchen needed to be remodeled because it was such a skinny space and outdated. With this being the main room for entertaining they wanted to expand the space, have it be functional for cooking, and being able to spend time as a family in the beautiful space.
Sean and Julie wanted an island to make the space feel complete so in order to do that, they decided to get rid of the pantry and laundry room that were on the main level right off the kitchen. They were taking up a lot of room in the space, so in order to get the kitchen to be wider they moved the laundry room in the basement for the time being.
Sean and Joe got to work by hanging the cabinets and adding all the custom woodwork above and on the cabinets.
Once the cabinets were set, Julie’s dad Larry worked on finishing the drywall and Take It For Granite installed the granite for the cabinets and island giving it the finish touch! Dustin and his crews’ work is always pristine and professional.
We hope you enjoy seeing the Whole process and progress- start to end- of Sean and Julies home!

Moving In / Flooring
At first Sean and Julie we’re going to repurpose the cabinets and paint them theirselves, but once they started it was just apparent that the cabinets were old, out dated, and not painted correctly. This is when they decided a new kitchen was a must to make their house become their home.
